Behavior test of Caucasian Mountain dog (Caucasian ovcharka, Shepherd dog, Sheepdog)
General provisions
Select for the stock-breeding work the valuable on behavioral
reactions dogs, that correspond to the requirements of the standard, to
reveal and not to allow to use in the stock-breeding dogs, that have
explicit deviations in psychics and behavior
(cowardice, excessive aggressiveness). This test is developed for evaluating the natural behavioral reactions of the dog.
Testing is carried out by the commission of experienced specialists in
the breed, that include the RKF expert on
the working qualities and expert on given breed. Commission, authorized to evaluate dogs according to this position,
must be gathered not less frequent than one time in a quarter
so that each desiring could pass testing in the time convenient for it
with the dog. To the pass this test are allowed the dogs, that reached the age of
12 months and that have a mark. The owner of the dog is obligated to produce for commission the original of the pedigree.
Grades: positive (Ò1 and Ò2) and negative ( - ).
Examining
The expert compares the number of mark on the dog with the number of mark,
indicated in the pedigree. Then the inspection of dog is
carried out. The requirement is checking the bite and dental formula,
and also the presence of testes in a male. Manual inspection carries out
the expert through on the breed . GRADE SYSTEM:
- expressed timid behavior (-);
- the short-term aggressive, timid or expressed tentative behavior,
easily corrected by the owner (Ò2);
- indifferent attitude or short-term tentative behavior (Ò1);
- expressed aggressive behavior (-).
Social adaptation test
The owner with the dog on a free (loose) guide with a length of 1-1,5
meters penetrates the group of people (not less than 5 people). The
behavior of people must be natural, without aggression and
fear. They must move in different directions, they can
gesticulate, loudly talk, laugh, be inclined, squat. In this case
they do not turn attention to the tested dog and do not make the
attempts to frighten it. The owner it is permitted to associate with the
dog and to correct its behavior. A quantity of passages through the group of people must be sufficient
in order to estimate the nature of the behavior of the dog (minimally
3 times). Then the expert approaches the owner of dog, he shakes to it hand, talks
with him for a while.
GRADE SYSTEM:
- a hard to eliminate timid behavior (-);
- the timid, aggressive, expressed tentative behavior, easily corrected
by owner (Ò2);
- calm, benevolent or indifferent attitude (Ò1);
- a hard to eliminate aggressive behavior (-).
A sound test (a shot)
Dog during the test is on the free dog-lead. On the signal of the expert from
the distance of 20-25 meters from the dog a starting pistol fires two times. Is possible to check the group of dogs
simultaneously, but not more than 5 dogs
GRADE SYSTEM:
- expressed timid or prolonged (more than 30 seconds) orienting
behavior (-);
- short-term (not more than 30 seconds) orienting reaction (Ò2);
- Indifferent attitude (Ò1);
- aggressive behavior (-).
Procedure of the dog evaluation
1. The final grade of dogs is derived according
to the results of three tests. With the predominance of the grade T1 the dog is
considered as the successfully past tests.
The dogs, that received the grade T1, they most correspond
to the requirements of the standard of the breed
according to the natural behavioral reactions. With the predominance of the grade T2 the dog is considered to have passed this test. It has permissible, although the not
completely corresponding to the requirements of the standard of
breed behavior. During the stock-breeding use of this dog
should be focused attention on the correct selection of pair, in order
not to fasten in the species/rock undesirable behavioral reactions. The final grade of testing is recorded in the
estimated sheet, the copy of which is given to the owner of the dog. Furthermore,
to the owner of dog is distributed the diploma of special sample, or
the results of testing are introduced into the qualification book.
The Diploma must contain the following information: the breed,
nickname, sex, birthday, the number of pedigree
and mark, color, the surname of the owner, the grade according
to all three tests, total grade, the date of
conducting testing, surname and the name of expert and members of
commission. Grade sheets must be transmitted for the registration in RKF. If the dog passed the tests with the grade T2, then it must
pass testing every two years. 2. In the case of obtaining a negative grade on any of the stages of
this test the dog is removed from the tests and this test is
considered as not passed.
The expert records "test it is not passed" in the estimated sheet of the dog . The dogs, that received negative grade, can be allowed
to the repeated testing, but not earlier than in 3 months. The repeated testing is conducted not more than two times.
The dogs, that three times received the grade "test is
not passed", get disqualified and they are
considered unfit to the stock-breeding use, since their behavior does
not correspond to the requirements of the standard of breed.
This mark is entered in the pedigree of the dog and is noted in the
data base.
This provision can be used for all breedss, except the German
shepherd dog (German ovcharka, German sheepdog), that has the standard required tests on the working
qualities. For the admittance of a German sheep dog in the
stock-breeding is required kerung.
The dogs of the following breeds compulsorily pass this test (in part 2-4): boxer, doberman, rotveyler, rizenshnautser, Russian black
terrier, Southern Russian shepherd dog (Southern Russian ovcharka, Southern Russian Sheepdog), Central Asian shepherd dog (Central Asian ovcharka, Central Asian Sheepdog, CAO), Caucasian Mountain dog (Caucasian ovcharka, Shepherd dog, Sheepdog, Kavkazskaya ovcharka, KO), Moscow Guard, Belgian shepherd dog (Belgian ovcharka, Belgian Sheepdog),
Briar, Flanders buvye.
